Church of the Good Shepherd, Carshalton Beeches

Stone Edge Conservation were appointed as main contractor to undertake the Interior decoration and QI repairs at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Carshalton Beeches.

Prior to any works being undertaken significant time was spent on trials for removal of the existing paint coating and also protection of the interior of the Church.

Prior to a birdcage scaffold being installed all items that could be removed were and those that had to remain in place were carefully protected for the duration.

Originally it was proposed to remove the existing paint system by a harsh abrasive clean, however following trials of alternative methods by our in house cleaning team it was decided to avoid this potentially damaging and disruptive method in favour of a poultice. Once removed the walls were then redecorated with a mineral paint to the clients colour scheme prior to a new lighting and AV system being installed

In addition to the internal works focus was also made on the external pointing, overhauling the copper roof at clerestory level and the installation of a man safe system
