SECL’s specialist in-house masons are currently undertaking vital investigative works at Osborne House to assess high-level modillion units identified as a significant health and safety risk.

Situated on the Isle of Wight, Osborne House is a former Royal residence steeped in heritage, and SECL is honoured to support its ongoing preservation. In close collaboration with Historic England and project architects Donald Insall Associates, the investigation aims to uncover the construction methods used for the modillions and their adjoining elements, as well as determine the potential causes behind their deterioration.

Findings from this detailed assessment will inform a broader conservation strategy designed to address structural concerns affecting substantial sections of the building’s perimeter.
