During the restorations works at St Nicholas’ Church in Pluckley the church and the conservation architects approached us to see if we would be willing to do a demonstration day on site for the local community.
Our Contracts Director, Kevin and banker mason Tomas were in attendance to explain the process of sourcing the correct stone, choosing a suitable bed and actually carving a new stone that would eventually end up in the structure of St Nicholas’ for generations to come.
It was particularly satisfying seeing some of the younger attendees having a go at banking, hopefully it will inspire them to take up what is fast becoming a dying art.
